Elena Griffor is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Grenoble Alpes in France, developing on Internet of Things (IoT) platform for Information Assurance and Artificial Intelligence. She has worked in information assurance engineering for business and finance, and has held internships at the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics at Wayne State University School of Medicine and at the Butzel Long law firm. Ms. Griffor has private sector experience in Project Management in the Financial Technology sector and has served a Research Assistant at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. Ms. Griffor’s expertise includes standards of practice in Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, Business and Finance, Forensic Accounting and Artificial Intelligence. Prior to joining NIST, Griffor was Walter P. Chrysler Technical Fellow, one of the highest technical positions in industry, from the automotive to the aerospace, medical, and computing industries. Griffor was Chairman of the Chrysler Technology Council and of The MIT Alliance. He has held faculty positions at the University of Oslo in Norway, Uppsala University in Sweden, the Catholic University of Santiago in Chile. He is regarded as a world expert in the use of mathematical methods for developing intelligent systems used in the design of adaptive technologies for the Internet of Things. Griffor is Adjunct Professor at the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics of Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. Griffor is an internationally recognized expert in applications of Artificial Intelligence to Transportation and Healthcare systems. He completed doctoral studies in Mathematics at MIT and a Habilitation in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering at the University of Oslo in Norway. Major General Gregory J. Vadnais retired as The Adjutant General and the Director of Military and Veterans Affairs for Michigan in January of 2019. During his tenure he commanded the Michigan Army and Air National Guard, a total of 159 units, a force of over 10,500 military and civilian personnel.

Major General Gregory J. Vadnais retired as The Adjutant General and the Director of Military and Veterans Affairs for Michigan in January of 2019. During his tenure he commanded the Michigan Army and Air National Guard, a total of 159 units, a force of over 10,500 military and civilian personnel.
Major General Vadnais’ career began in 1970 as an enlisted soldier in the 107th Maintenance Battalion, Michigan Army National Guard. He entered the Michigan Military Academy Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in 1973 as a Second Lieutenant of Field Artillery. Key assignments include Commander, 1-119th Field Artillery Battalion, Commander, 1-182d Field Artillery Battalion, and Commander, 46th Infantry Brigade, Assistant Division Commander (Maneuver), and Division Commander for the 38th Infantry Division (Mechanized).
During his tenure as Division Commander, Major General Vadnais prepared, trained, and deployed over 9,000 Soldiers to 17 different countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Egypt, and for other contingency missions in the United States and overseas. He commanded Joint Task Force CYCLONE during the national response to Hurricane Katrina, leading 14,000 Soldiers and Airmen conducting search and rescue and disaster relief operations in Mississippi.
Major General Vadnais was appointed as The Adjutant General of Michigan in 2011 by Governor Rick Snyder. Since his appointment, and in collaboration with State of Michigan civilian leaders, he developed the Michigan State Tuition Assistance Program and established the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency to support Soldiers, Airmen, and Veterans.
Major General Vadnais also guided the expansion of Exercise NORTHERN STRIKE from an initial effort to train Air Guard and small Army Guard ground units to its current status as a Department of Defense Joint Staff accredited Joint National Training Capability which traines over 8,000 Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, Sailors, and foreign military partners in annually.
During his tenure as The Adjutant General, the Michigan National Guard has deployed over 6,000 Airmen and Soldiers across the globe as part of the Global War on Terror. Michigan Soldiers and Airmen have responded to multiple natural and man-made disasters in Michigan and across the United States, to include fighting the Duck Lake Fires, flood relief in the Upper Peninsula, point of distribution operations during the Flint Water Crisis, and hurricane response across the Southern states.
Major General Vadnais has served his Nation and State for more than 44 years with an unprecedented 23 years in a command at every level in the Army National Guard. Under General Vadnais leadership Michigan State Partnership Programs with the nations of Latvia and Liberia have grown to be recognized as the premier and effective programs conducted by the National Guard States across the Nation. Personal commitment and engagement with Presidents, Ambassadors, and defense officials have built an enduring trust between the countries and Michigan, recognized by both US European Command and US Africa Command.
In his civilian career, he was a partner in Paxton Resources, LLC, and oil and gas exploration and production company based out of Gaylord Michigan.
